The "Toutes en Sport ” project aims to promote gender equality and strengthen child protection through the practice of sport in Burundi and Rwanda. Starting in July 2024, this 3-year program is led by
PLAY International, through the REKA project, trained teachers on children's rights and the prevention of violence in schools. Teachers and students learned through games to recognize and report all forms of violence. Teachers and students learned to recognize and report all forms of violence. The project extended awareness beyond the school, involving parents and the wider community. As a result, harmful punishments were replaced with non-violent discipline, creating safer school environments.
Thanks to the training I received from PLAY International, I learned what violence really is and how to protect children from it. Thanks to Playagogics, we now teach students through games, and they have formed a protection club. Today, the entire school and even the community are actively working together to prevent violence.
Resilience is a real strength of Rwandan society, one that is emphasized and admired by most people (...). Sport can contribute to this resilience because it has both a collective dimension (...) and an individual dimension, promoting self-esteem, self-confidence, and the ability to manage emotions both on and off the field.
