The Fight againt discriminations kit aims to promote, through sport, an alternative education to the current system: a more inclusive, tolerant, open and cooperative education.

What about?

Context

In the existing Kosovo education system, the adopted curricula and materials insufficiently reflect the specific histories, cultures and other attributes of all communities within Kosovo. The most frequent formulations in the textbooks are exaggerations of the role, qualities and values of a people or ethnic group compared to the others: as a result, history texts reinforce symbolic and simplistic representations of the nation through the division into “Us” versus “Them”. In addition, textbooks are primarily loaded with discriminatory language in terms of ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation and disability. Then, it appears possible to affirm that the currently educational curriculum fails in promoting common values and encouraging respect and understanding of the country’s cultural diversity.
